Do You Deserve To Go To Hell?

Well, it has been a long time; so long in fact that I have almost forgotten how to do this.

I listened to a sermon this morning by Dr. Michael G. Morrow that I think is worth sharing, so I encourage you to grab a cup of coffee (or tea if you are so inclined), and take 30 minutes to see what the Bible has to say about who deserves to spend eternity in Hell.

What Is Salvation?

Here is a brief audio clip from Tim Conway (the pastor, not the comedian) where he answers the question, What is Salvation? He gives a very good answer and this is well worth the 12 minutes it takes to listen.

Miscellaneous

I have a few different things to post today. None of them warrent their own post so I am just lumping them all together... Enjoy

First up, here is a new "poster" from the guys at Team Pyro This is for all of my Open Theologian friends out there (you know who you are).

Next up is a list I heard this week from and old Adrian Rodgers sermon where he told the five kinds of people who will end up in hell; these include:
  1. The out-and-out sinner -Those who know the Gospel and choose to continue in sin.
  2. The self righteous - Those who believe that they are really "good people."
  3. The procrastinator - Those who know the truth and they will get around to repentance later.
  4. The lost church member - Those who believe that church membership is enough
  5. Those who have never heard the Gospel
Think about that last one the next time you decide not to share your faith!

And finally: I had the opportunity over the last few days to listen to some excellent sermons on Romans chapters 6, 7, & 8. I highly recommend these as they address the all important issue of whether or not a Christian can sin. (the answer is yes... and no - you'll just have to listen).

The Dangerous Doctrine of Charles Finney

Over the past few weeks I have been studying the Theology and teachings of Charles Finney. As I stated in my post The Heresy of Open Theism (Part 2) Charles Finney is one of the Theologians quoted most often by Open Theists and those who embrace the view of Moral Governmental Atonement.

Today I found a few sermons on Sermon Audio.com (a great site, by the way) that give a quick biography of Mr. Finney and then show, from Scripture, where he want astray in his doctrine and teachings.

You may be asking yourself why am I even concerned with a Theologian who lived almost 200 years ago? The quick answer is that a lot of what he did is still influencing our churches today - and not in a good way. If you ever wondered where things like the Altar Call came from take some time to listen to these sermons - you might be surprised by what you learn.

How To Kill Sin

I am currently working on 2 new posts, but since neither of them are ready to go up yet I thought I would share a couple sermons that I just recently listened to. These are 3 of the best sermons I have heard in a long time, and they are dealing with a subject that we don't hear much about these days - how we are Christians are called to make war against the sin in our lives. So while I finish up writing the next 2 posts take some time to listen to these messages by John Piper and learn how to kill sin.

How to Kill Sin - Part 1
How to Kill Sin - Part 2
How to Kill Sin - Part 3

Have a great weekend!

The Gospel?

For those of you who may still think that Joel Osteen is preaching the Gospel here is a clip contrasting the teaching of Paul Washer with the teaching of Mr. Osteen. We desperately need to fall on our faces before the throne of God and repent for what we have allowed to happen to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this country.
